Year 8 students were inspired by entrepreneur and podcast host Jay Thakkar and Richard Leighton through an engaging workshop that introduced them to the exciting world of podcast creation. Students explored how successful podcasts are shaped around themes, audiences and storytelling before developing their own original podcast concepts. The experience culminated in the live filming of a podcast episode, giving students a unique behind-the-scenes insight into media production and entrepreneurship in action. The workshop empowered students to develop valuable future-ready skills including creativity, communication, critical thinking and confidence. "This was so much fun and the entrepreneurs were really interesting. I enjoyed being one of the hosts of the podcast and can't wait to show my parents."
The podcasting workshop was engaging, structured and well delivered. Jay was personable and quickly built a great rapport with the students, encouraging everyone to participate with confidence. Our students were fully engaged throughout and developed a clear understanding of the podcasting process through giving them hands-on experience of planning, recording and producing a podcast using specialist equipment. Additionally, students developed skills they can apply in future projects across the curriculum. I would highly recommend this workshop to any school looking to inspire students while developing the practical skills and confidence that employers value.
Jay's podcasting workshop was exceptionally well delivered; engaging, informative, and thoughtfully structured. The session balanced theory with hands-on learning, covering the essentials of podcast branding, production, editing, and distribution in a way that was both accessible and practical. Jay's enthusiasm and expertise created an encouraging learning environment where everyone felt comfortable participating and asking questions. The highlight was creating a short podcast as a team, which allowed us to immediately apply what we had learned. I would highly recommend Jay's workshop to anyone interested in developing their podcasting skills or exploring podcasting as a creative storytelling tool.
Working with Jay on our Year 9 Careers Podcast Project earlier this year was an exciting and fast-paced experience for our students. The workshop demystified the entire creative process and provided a structured scaffolding for our students from initial concept mapping to interviewing a local entrepreneur. The immediate impact on students' communication skills and confidence was remarkable. I cannot recommend Jay highly enough!
Across every institution and age group, these outcomes appear without exception.
